Paper receipts are easy to lose, but the IRS requires proof for your deductions. DriveTracker allows you to snap a photo of your gas and food receipts the moment you buy them, linking them forever to your specific driving shift.
You can attach receipts to your session during the Session Summary (after you tap DONE DRIVING):
- On the summary screen, look for the Camera Icons next to the Gas and Food expense fields.
- Tap the icon to open the camera.
- Position the receipt in the frame and tap the shutter button.
- Accept or Retry: If the photo is clear, tap the checkmark. If it’s blurry, tap the 'X' to try again.
- Once accepted, the camera icon will turn into a small Thumbnail Preview of your receipt.
Need to see a receipt from three weeks ago? No problem:
- Go to the History or Performance tab.
- Select the specific session you want to view.
- Scroll down to the expense section and tap the Receipt Thumbnail.
Pro Tip (ZFold 7): On your large screen, the receipt will open in a high-resolution viewer. You can use two fingers to Pinch and Zoom to see the fine print or the date on the receipt.
If you accidentally took a photo of the wrong receipt or need to remove one:
- Open the session from your History.
- Tap the Receipt Thumbnail to open the viewer.
- Tap the Delete button at the bottom of the image.
- Confirm the deletion. You can now tap the camera icon again to take a new photo if needed.
By using the Receipt Manager, you are building a "Tax-Audit Proof" business:
- Digital Backup: Even if the ink on the paper fades, your digital copy is safe.
- Organized Records: Each receipt is tied to a date, time, and mileage log.
- Easy Export: When you print your Monthly Expense Report, you have all the totals ready to match up with your digital photo library.
PRO TIP: Get into the habit of taking the photo immediately at the gas pump. It only takes 5 seconds and ensures you never forget an expense!
